About African Shea Butter

Applefields Skin Care, sells shea butter to you in its natural form, 100% pure.

African shea butter grows in Ghana, West Africa. It is the pulp of the seed of a fruit that grows wild in the Savannas grass land on a shea tree, size 50 to 60 feet in height.

Once every year the tree produces delicious fruits that are harvested during the rainy season. The fruits are collected and sun dried. When the fruits are well dried and cured, they are threshed down to dry powdered nuts [seeds] which are boiled in extra large clay pots for four to five days. From the seed is extracted a thick white or yellow butter that is treasured in West Africa for its many healing properties.

Shea butter is an organic matter, pure and simple. It thrives on air, water, and land as people do. When we apply it to our bodies, it penetrates all three layers of the skin. It is unlike petroleum base jells or water base lotion which treat only the surface of our skin, shea butter is very friendly [helpful] to our bodies. For it acts akin when applied to the skin.

Today, Shea butter is used in places as diverse as pharmaceutical products, high-end cosmetics, and even some chocolates.
